Covid 19 – A message from your family doctor
Re. Covid-19 Pandemic
We recognize that the past few days have been particularly challenging for everyone in many ways and would like to thank you for your patience as we navigate this situation. Here at the office we are doing our best to keep up with the rapidly changing environment as well as the evolving directives and guidelines we are receiving. We know this is a trying and anxious time for our patients, particularly those of you who may not be feeling well, so we are taking this opportunity to provide you with an update on changes we have implemented in response to the situation.
Cancellation of elective appointments & contacting our office
- Given the current situation, we will be offering telephone visits with your health provider to take care of any urgent medical needs.
- Also, our office has made the decision to cancel most elective “check-up” and non urgent appointments. Cancelling these non-urgent/routine visits will help free up our time to better handle the increased workload right now and be available for patients with more acute or pressing concerns.
Minimizing risk of exposure
- Following the recommendations we are receiving from our health authorities, and for the health and safety of our staff and patients we must attempt to keep patients with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 out of our office for the time being. To emphasize; do not come to the office if you have any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat or shortness of breath. Please call the office to speak to medical personnel.
- We know you turn to us, your family doctors, when you get sick, and it goes against our natural tendencies to keep you out of the office in such situations. However, if a sick patient comes into our office and subsequently tests positive for COVID-19, our clinic would be exposed— and risk being shut down for 14 days. This is a situation we are striving to avoid, so we can remain available to our patients.
